Triton Stories
Pictures are worth a thousand words, but the stories are much more entertaining!
Starting off on the Wrong Foot (Fin?)
Out of the haze, one hand trying hard to hold onto his floatline, the other clutching his Alemanni double roller. He got to the surface and proceeded to yank on his floatline in a game of tug-o-war with what was no-doubt some ungodly sea monster.
A Shark Only Won Half the Battle
To my surprise there he was again. And he was coming right at me! I stood my ground and when he got within arms reach I reached out and poked him with my spear. Big mistake.
A Hearty “Welcome Back!”
Two personal bests were had this day and a bit of a scare from a near by fin that cruised by!
The bigger of the two lings was found in less than 10' of water sitting right out in the open! The reason this meaty ling was even spotted was due to showing new divers we met at the parking lot how to hunt for scallops! This seems to say that a little pay it forward can yield a payment in itself!
There are Dive Buddies… Then There are Chads.
A dive recap: Last minute, friend coming through in a big way, lessons learned and a big take home prize.
Play it Safe
After the swells kept us out of the water for over a month, it was a prime time to be reminded that the ocean is one powerful lady that deserves constant respect.
The Community Platter
We have a LOT of ideas for community events and get-togethers, so it’s been difficult (COVID-19) to find a way to satisfy our longing to be there for the community outside of articles, conversations and images. This is one of the paramount reasons that made this meal so special.
Sacramento Fever
The Spearos Who Don’t Eat Fish

Our First Lings
“…And that’s how we found each of the other’s first lingcod.”
Neptune Giveth, and Neptune Taketh Away…
Another hour passed, a few fish later, and I felt my float snag on something…
Seeing Red
We ended up camping that night and eating the verm on the camp stove. The next day we tried another spot and Sam shot his PB lingcod to round off a crazy but rewarding trip.
A Fish for Everyone
Spearos get so caught up with shooting game fish and recording depths they forget what a privilege it is to even be able to go spearfishing.

Why I became a PFI Instructor
