The California Chapter of BHA seeks to ensure that North America's outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing is sustained for generations, through education and work on behalf of the state's wild public lands, waters and wildlife. Event donations are tax deductible.

CnC22 Event Overview

The second annual Monterey Catch & Cook for a Healthy Ocean Competition is a family-friendly event where a freedive-spearfisher competes to create the best wild fare before a panel of professional and celebrity chefs. Participants will catch their seafood recipe ingredients from nearby coastal waters, and then cook their meal outside at Monterey Bay Kayaks near Del Monte Beach in Monterey, CA. Meanwhile, family and friends of competitors are invited to join in a beach clean-up competition. Prizes will be awarded for Best Meal, Heaviest Fish, the Beach Clean-up and much more including urchin culling incentives and a huge raffle.

Urchins Removed

For every 10 urchins removed, 1 additional raffle ticket is given to the competitor. For a full limit of 35 urchin, 4 raffle tickets will be awarded. Separate $1300 prize package for participation.

Executive Award

The event organizers will present this discretionary award to the competitor who best embodies the spirit of the competition and conservation ethic.
